Every day for two weeks I drove by this sign at the side of the highway. It is in the yard at Grant Transport (http://www.granttransport.com/inspirations-log.html (http://www.granttransport.com/inspirations-log.html)) and they regularly change the sign. I wonder just how many people like me watch for the sign or think about the message or look for it to change.
I believe that honesty is critical to success. Without honesty I need to remember the stories, the ego boosting exaggerations, the little white lies and who I told them to. So rather than having to expend my energy protecting my “honesty”, I can focus my energy on what is critical to success.
For success, honesty is not just being honest with others but also being honest with yourself. This can be critical in the first step of the GATE

Being honest with yourself and knowing what you value and the criteria that you determine for your success will easily follow. Keeping focus on the goals and values you have set for yourself are key to your success regardless of what challenges or setbacks occur on the way.
Honesty builds trust in yourself and others. This enables focused energy and efforts on your goals and values, which will be recognized by others. The trust in your goals and values allows you to take the risks and actions needed to succeed. The trust built with others based on honesty makes it easy for them to participate in your success and will be demonstrated by their willingness to support, encourage and contribute.
Honesty may not always be easy to give or take, it is at least important, if not critical.
