Penny Lawlor

Well I started my life with two very loving parents who gave me a solid foundation of respect, morals, good values and an absolute great sense of humour. Though I gave them a bit of trouble in my rebellious teen years I have tons of great funny and memorable life moments that I can share with my kids and be proud of.

As for my education I have attended College for Architectural Drafting which unfortunately I have not used other than for personal and family projects. I have also attended College for Design Arts which I have used in some form or fashion in every job I have had.

I consider myself to be a 'Jane' of all trades. I may not be an expert in one particular field but I have over the years gathered a great deal of experience in many areas. My start into the workforce is pretty typical of most, that being in the retail and hospitality fields. I have been employed in the Printing and Reproduction field for my graphic background and continue to use those skills to this very day. What I deem my Corporate or Professional life began when I married an American and moved to Kentucky. It was there that I gained a vast array of experience in an Office environment, from secretarial to personal assistant positions. I have for the past 12 years been employed in small home based businesses to a bank corporation and everything in between. I have also worked in a startup company and been apart of the expansion and growth, from being the grunt worker to overseeing projects with various departments involved.

In life we come to conclusions that we must move on in order to continue to grow and be happy. So that being said I ended my marriage and moved back home in Ontario to be closer to very much missed family and friends. But where one door closes another opens and life began again and with it brought my greatest joy, my kids. I am a single Mom of two wonderful children who are my world which I believe they are without a doubt my greatest accomplishment in this world. With the many ups and downs in a troubled relationship my kids and I have persevered and are finally having a pretty good life.

This brings me to where I am today with two great jobs; one, at GATE: Global Alliance of Trusted Experts Inc and two, being a Mom. Both of which bring great joy and great frustration at times. I have had the pleasure of working with many wonderful people and am glad it continues today. I am also learning a great deal in both of my jobs which I believe is adding great value to my life. Although with my kids I am in the what I call the depends stage, that's where they come out with the funniest things you almost pee your pants and need to wear depends underwear. With GATE, under Dave's influence and knowledge I am being exposed to a great deal of technical information that is extremely valuable, sometimes somewhat overwhelming but greatly appreciated for the opportunity and vote of confidence.

This bio may perhaps be a bit more personal rather than business like but that is likely because one, I am female and well we are more emotional. And two because I am much more than just a business person, I am a Mom, a friend, a confident and quite frankly a bit of a smart ass.

Some Personal Business Highlights:

• 3 years working as a consultant in the transportation industry working with entrepreneur and small trucking companies which included:

  • fuel tax data entry for numerous small trucking companies

  • preparation and filing of government reporting and general requirements for trucking industry

  • customer service and problem solving

  • created quarterly newsletter and maintained company website

• 5 years as a project manager for tubular headwear, which included:

  • financial responsibilities

  • logistics for trade shows and shipping/receiving

  • production

  • communication with clients, suppliers and manufacturers

  • website maintenance

  • personal assistant

• 2 years as a office manager in the mobile home industry which included:

  • financial responsibilities

  • preparation and filing of government reporting

  • computer and office duties, data entry, updates and maintenance

• 2 years as a data processor in a bank which involved:

  • balancing various daily banking reports

  • uploaded daily transaction information

  • system monitoring, diagnoses, repairs, routine equipment cleaning and maintained service logs
