The GATEPost for February 20, 2009

Hello all
    I thought an update would be worthwhile, it has been a busy week and I think there is some news worthy of reporting. First big news is that as of March 1, GATE has an office which you can peek at in the attached or check out the "Contact" page on new website (still less than bare-bones but much more presentable than before). I took the liberty of adding my own sign in the picture (and removing a few others as well) but this is more or less accurate.

    Despite earlier comments to the contrary, sadly John Furman will not be joining the firm; it is just not the right time for him but we'll perhaps work together in the future. This has made a bit of a delay as I spend time putting together the website to present SOMETHING to prospects, it is coming together but clearly this is not my forte! Still, should provide enough of a prototype to allow a sub-contractor to build a real site without requiring too much input. I'm mostly pleased with the results, just not the time I've had to dedicate to the cause.

    The search for the COO continues without any change, these things take time; I do not know of any suitable candidate that isn't currently employed...I'll say no more about that! It has made me rethink strategies somewhat and I've reached out to my old prof at UWO hoping he might have some young talent to help me out. It'll be a bit slower and more hours for me but at least we'll be moving forward while the search for COO continues.

    I believe I have already lined up at least 1/2 of my current membership quota for March, that part at least is on track. It'll be hard to surpass my quota, however, as I am mired in administration right now ... short-term pain that I was hoping to pass on to somebody more capable. I probably can't make too much of a mess of it :-) but I certainly can whine about it!

That's probably already more words than you care to read, hope you all get a chance to at least browse through http://www.gatevillage.net  ... I know the background doesn't scale to windows but other than that, please DO let me know of any errors or comments you'd like to provide.

BTW: If you know of any good web site developers looking for work, please pass them over to me.
