Different people and companies have different security concerns and requirements, there is no 'one-size-fits-all' solution to information security and GATE Village doesn't try to provide one. Instead, GATE Village provides Information Security Realms where all people privy to a specific realm have (more or less) equal and unfettered access to content within that realm and people outside of the realm require special access to even view content.

No Matter the business you are in, whether public or private, for profit or not, whether you are paid or are a volunteer, there is always information that you should not spread to outside your business concerns. There are a variety of reasons for needing this, privacy and secrecy does have its place even in the trusted world of GATE Village. It is an utter falacy that all information should be freely available to all, there are many good, sound, and valid reasons for wanting to keep some information secret from others.
