Content Reuse in GATE Village is built in by design, with tools like Panel pages, SHOUTout and Glossary Items it is possible to create very complex, dynamic data structures that can be created and maintained in a distributed fashion with whatever level of approval, review, and editing is required for that particular content type (or business process). When any of the Information Objects connected with any particular data structure are newly published, they very next request for that data structure receives the updated content -- the days of copy-and-paste are over, that is content reuse!

The dream of all knowledge managers and other data professionals is to be able to be able to always have available and easily accessible the latest authoritative information for the content/data they are tasked to manage. Content reuse, as it is currently practiced by most people, amounts to copy-and-paste activities from what is thought and hoped to be authoritative sources. It is widely practiced and if the process is well managed, it is likely that all new uses of the content will receive the latest information. But that is only part of the story.

Using content in this way leads directly to stale content that has the distinct possibility of providing false, possibily misleading, or even potentially damaging information to the potential future reader. It is also very inefficient and prone to error (as all manual processes do).

Rather than copy data and make the problem worse, GATE Village allows you to refer to an Information Object in the system so that when the information changes, the Information Objects you are responsible for are automatically updated. And when used in conjunction with Automatic Linking, content is reused without the creators even necessarily being aware of it.
