A window within a window, a lightbox provides the ability to display content "in front of" the web browser window you are viewing. Not only does this look cool, it has the distinct advantage of not losing your audience while they explore your links. This is particularly useful for links external to your area of interest (whether that be your business web site, your Trusted Neighbourhood, or even your blog entry).
